It is a typical Basque town in the Navarrese Pyrenees where we stopped to eat some tapas after walking the Irati Xterm route in the opposite direction. We were on a terrace enjoying the sun after a day of lots of rain, fog and cold on the French side. It was worth the stop and recovery before facing the last port of the day.

They are the ruins of an old weapons factory from the 19th century, used during the Carlist Wars. It is a well-documented place where there are explanatory signs that explain what the factory was like, what was produced and in what historical context. In front of the weapons factory, there is a small shop where local sheep cheese is sold. Highly recommended!

It is considered one of the best exponents of 18th century industrial architecture. It was founded in 1784 by a Royal Order of Carlos III. After producing ammunition for years, and at some stage even cannons, it began in the mid-19th century to produce quality iron, which was later transformed in the Trubia and Oviedo factories in Asturias. It suffered a fire in 1869, and ended up closing in 1884. In 2007 it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, for being a jewel of eighteenth-century architecture, essential for the study of industrial archeology and the history of the Royal Factories at a national level. peninsular.

The facilities are really interesting. The location is, to say the least, spectacular. It is lucky to be able to cycle through these beautiful natural spaces full of well-preserved pieces of history.

It is mandatory to go to the Selva de Irati when you are in Navarra, especially during the autumn when the leaves turn ochres, yellows and reds. It has the largest beech and fir forest in all of Europe.

Simply wonderful! A unique place with incredible panoramic views of the entire Irati River valley and beyond. It is a very picturesque and photogenic place in itself, just be careful to take the classic photo sitting on the top of the cliff, you have come all the way to enjoy the views, do not take unnecessary risks.

From 1403 meters above sea level the views are simply amazing. The cliffs provide clear views given their geology and on days with good visibility you will have the best postcard views of the Pyrenees, both on the French and Spanish sides.
