The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, in Tamajón (Guadalajara), stands atop a small hill to the north of the town center, at an altitude of approximately 1,097 meters, within the Diocese of Sigüenza-Guadalajara. It was built in the 13th century in the Romanesque style, with significant renovations in the 16th century that introduced Renaissance influences. In the 12th century, the area belonged to the Common Lands of the Town and Territory of Atienza; in the 15th century, it passed to the Mendoza family.

Campillejo constitutes a representative urban nucleus characteristic of Guadalajara's black architecture and although due to dimensions it is closer to the denomination of village than to that of town, its constructions of slate, wood and mud are, without a doubt, one of the most singular and picturesque along the route of the black towns. Due to its excellent location, Campillejo is a perfect place for hiking, mountaineering (4 peaks over 2,000 m), mountain biking or road biking, as well as canoeing or kayaking, since only 15 minutes away is access to the El Vado reservoir, an extraordinary mountain reservoir full of meanders and surrounded by thick coniferous forests, where there is a canoe rental base.
