A good place to start the ascents to Candina or the journey to Laredo through the Sierra de la Vida. The Camino de Santiago del Norte also passes through here, just before facing one of its most spectacular sections. In summer and on weekends with good weather it is usually difficult to park due to the large influx of vehicles that arrive to visit the nearby San Julián beach, which on the other hand is well worth a visit.

We drove along this long promenade on our "Camino del Norte" to the beach from which the small ferries cross to Santona. The ship is reached via a small, narrow wooden ramp.
