Beautiful cycle path along the river

Crossing by bike is no problem, as the bridge has rails. This makes cycling in the Spreewald twice as much fun.

It's a very beautiful route, only the small bridges were tiring on the bikes.

We took a break here with our kayak. The lawn is large enough to park boats. Plenty of seating, shaded by awnings or trees. Everything is clean and pretty.

The name Leipe is derived from the Lower Sorbian word "Lipa" for linden tree and currently has around 100 inhabitants. It is interesting to know that Leipe used to be and still is. In the 1960s it was completely surrounded by water and could therefore only be reached by boat. Even today the town is located in the middle of a large number of canals and streams.
