15th-16th Century Castle Opening Hours: Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Closed Monday and Tuesday. This Gothic-Renaissance castle-palace, associated with the Mendoza family, has a pentagonal floor plan. At its corners rise towers of varying shapes and sizes; three stand out: the western tower, circular; the southern tower, rectangular; and the eastern tower, octagonal on the exterior and hexagonal on the interior. All are connected by a wall-walk. The towers and walls are crowned with striking crenellations. It has two gates, the main gate and a false gate, both with pointed arches and defended by machicolations. Inside, the Renaissance arcaded courtyard is particularly noteworthy, featuring a double gallery and beautiful Plateresque plasterwork decoration on the upper level. A passageway in the western wall once connected the castle to the church.

Deza is a town in Soria in the community of Castilla y León. Human settlements have been found in the area since the Upper Paleolithic. The Titos (an ethnic group included among the Celtiberians) and later the Romans also settled in the current Deza. During Arab domination, Dassa was an important fortification controlled by the Berbers, as the border between the Christian and Muslim kingdoms was in the nearby Douro. Among its historical heritage, the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción stands out, from the 16th century, with a tower from the 17th century, and also the main civil building, the strong house of the Fernández de Abarca family, where the town hall is currently located. Deza has a bullring, the oldest in the province in its original location, dug into the earth.

In the middle of the mountainous foothills of the Sierra de Miñana, just on its eastern side, there is the town of Deza that rests under a small depression. Beautiful center that is run by the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción.

It is not the first nor the last of the many sections of crops that we had to cross. In summer, badly, in winter totally inadvisable (it will be a quagmire). So I advise looking for an alternative by tracks or even secondary roads that allow us to connect Santa María ReEal with Monteagudo de las Vicarías. This section of the GR, in addition to not having any charm, is heavy even when walking (not to say that the owner of the crops is not very funny even though we are within our rights)

-The Monteagudo reservoir is a reservoir located in the municipality of Monteagudo de las Vicarías, province of Soria. It is popularly known as "the swamp". It collects its waters from the Nágima River. Its area is 100 hectares. There are viewpoints to spot the migratory birds that rest in these waters during the season
