At the top of Puig de Bonany, at a height of 317 meters, is located this wonderful hermitage. The first documents date from 1606, when a small oratory was built. The current temple was built between 1920 and 1925. In a historicist style with neo-Baroque roots, the hermitage has a Latin plan without side chapels and is covered with a barrel vault.

When in Petra, it's worth a detour just for the view alone. In comparison, little-used serpentine road with one or the other pothole.

The monastery of Santuari de la Mare de Deu de Bonany or Bonany Monastery is located a few kilometers outside of Petra and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Mallorca. It lies on a 317 meter mountain - the Puig de Bonany.

Very nice little monastery. You can also spend the night there in the monks' rooms by prior arrangement. Very inexpensive, number is on the Internet.

The Ermita de Bonany is a church on the summit of the 317 m high Bonany. What is remarkable is the nativity scene to the left of the entrance with 2 peepholes on the right + left - a bit like a model railway... There is a drinks machine in the anteroom. In front of the church there is a large picnic area with a good view.
