Fontanar is a Spanish municipality in the province of Guadalajara, in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. It is located in the Campiña del Henares region, 10 km from the provincial capital.

It is located within the Campiña de Guadalajara, at the foot of the foothills of the Serranía. Its term includes three small plateaus that are the places of the Muela, the Chaparral and the Llano. In addition, Matarrubia has a main water course that passes through the urban area, the so-called "Matarrubia stream", a tributary of the Jarama.
