The Leine River has shaped the landscape and history of the region for centuries. It rises in the Eichsfeld region south of Göttingen and flows approximately 280 kilometers northwards until it empties into the Aller River near Schwarmstedt. Along its course, it traverses fertile floodplains, rolling hills, and several important cities – most notably Göttingen and Hanover, where it meanders peacefully through parks and green spaces.

Actually a beautiful lake, but the numerous signs seem very off-putting (unfortunately that's what they're supposed to do).

Well-preserved and well-maintained barn district, which houses shops and restaurants.

The history of the barn district goes back to 1756. The barns were built as drive-through barns to store farmers' hay and straw. Grain was threshed and hay was dried on the square. Since 1871 the square has also been a festival site, as it still is today.

The old barns were used for agriculture in the 18th century, but now they are home to restaurants and retail stores. Events are held on the barn square, and there is a weekly market there every Saturday.
