Very easy route, beautiful place.

A place that concentrates all types of legends and that has been the subject of all types of programs about paranormal phenomena.

From the magnificent hill dominated by the white cross of Alfacar, you can see an extensive landscape in which Sierra Elvira, Sierra Nevada and the Cubillas reservoir stand out, among others.

In the Sierra de Alfaguara there is an old tuberculosis hospital that is currently in ruins. A German woman, Berta Wihelmi, built this building altruistically in order to treat this disease that had taken the life of her brother. It is easy to get there by bicycle through a circular road that surrounds the hill where it is located.

It is not signposted, you have to follow a track

It is the point where one of the largest defensive structures in the Huétor mountain range was located.

The Cruz de Víznar is placed at the top of the Collado de Víznar, indicating the highest peak in the municipality.

The sanatorium was built in the Alfaguara mountain range, as this is a place surrounded by nature and at a considerable altitude (1,487 meters above sea level). It was located very close to the Fuente Fría spring, where it was supplied with water. The main building of the sanatorium also had a dispensary and later a preventorium. Its inauguration was attended by personalities from the civil, military, ecclesiastical and scientific sectors, and representatives of the city council of Granada and Alfacar.
