The apostle, represented here directly in front of the church with a beautiful stone statue, belongs, together with his brother, to the inner circle of Jesus' disciples. In his version of the "Good News" (this is the meaning of the word "gospel"), the Evangelist Mark lists the apostles: "James, the son of Zebedee, and John, the brother of James—them he surnamed Boanerges, which means "sons of thunder" (Mark 3:17). They were said to have had strong tempers, but were faithful followers of Jesus Christ, in whom they recognized the promised Messiah. According to the Acts of the Apostles, James was executed for his faith.

1월 2, 2025, León Cathedral (Catedral de León)
The Cathedral is undoubtedly the symbol of the city and its history dates back to the 10th century. The royal palace of Ordoño II was located on the old thermal baths and public buildings that the Legion VII had built in the mid-2nd century. In 917, after defeating the Arabs in the battle of San Esteban de Gormaz, the king, “thankful to God”, gave up his residence so that the first cathedral temple could be built there.

12월 16, 2024, Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Perales
The Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Perales is a historic chapel located in Bercianos del Real Camino. The chapel was built in the 17th century. It was originally dependent on the Hospital del Cebreiro, which was founded in the 12th century. It is a simple brick building with a gable roof and a single tower. The interior is sober but charming, with a focus on devotion to Our Lady of Perales. Every year on September 8, a romería (pilgrimage) is held in her honor, during which the people of Bercianos del Real Camino visit the chapel and celebrate a party. The chapel is open from June 15 to September 30, from Monday to Sunday, between 11:00 and 13:00 and 18:00 and 20:00.

12월 16, 2024, City Walls of Mansilla de las Mulas
The old city wall of Mansilla de las Mulas (also called Mansilla de los Muros), is an impressive example of medieval fortifications. These walls probably date from before 1181, the time of the repopulation under King Ferdinand II. The walls are built of limestone and rock, and are topped with battlements. Some parts of the wall are more than 14 metres high and up to three metres thick. Of the four original gates, the gate of Santa María or de Concepción is still completely preserved. There are six semicircular towers and a square tower that are still visible.

12월 16, 2024, Plaza del Grano
The Plaza del Grano in León, is one of the most charming and historic squares in the city. Also known as the Plaza de Santa María del Camino, this place has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. The name "Plaza del Grano" refers to the historical function of the square as a grain market. The square has retained its traditional cobblestones, which gives it an authentic medieval appearance. The square was also an important stop on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, where pilgrims rested before continuing their journey. The centerpiece of the Plaza del Grano is the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Mercado, a 12th century church with a beautiful Romanesque façade. The simplicity and authenticity of the architecture make the square particularly attractive. The Plaza del Grano comes alive during Semana Santa (Holy Week), when the square is the scene of important religious processions. The square remains a vibrant centre of local life, with markets where you can buy fresh produce and handmade crafts.

12월 16, 2024, Plaza de San Marcelo and the Lion Sculpture
EL LEÓN DE SALEAL: We go back to Roman times to understand part of the theme of this sculpture. Cloacina, in Roman mythology, was the goddess who ruled over the Cloaca Máxima, the sewer system of Rome. The sewer name comes from the name of this goddess, because thanks to the origin of sewer systems, a quality of life was achieved in terms of sanitation of urban environments and public health from the beginning to the present day. It should be remembered that the origin of the name of this city and province of León comes from the word legio ("legion"). Legio VII Gemina was the Roman camp that settled here and with it the origin of the city of León. A lion with strength and claws as a symbol of the sanitation system (the modern version of Cloacina Máxima) in constant renewal and maintenance. The goal was achieved: to do something symbolic and reflect the efforts and human work of so many years, to give solidity to our public health and the health of the environment.

The Arco de San Benito is an impressive monument in Sahagún, located in the region of Castilla y León, Spain. It was built around 1662 by the architect Felipe Berrojo to replace the old Romanesque portal of the Monasterio de San Benito. The arch is designed as a triumphal arch, under which the N-120 passes, and is also known as "la puerta de Sahagún" (the gate of Sahagún). The monument is richly decorated with a central shield, inscriptions and sculptures of Saints Facundo and Primitivo. At the top is the royal shield, and there are also sculptures of Alfonso III and Alfonso VI, who were important protectors of the monastery.
