This surprising bridge is located in the Júcar gorge, very close to the buildings of the old hydroelectric plant. It is in perfect condition and is one of the most visited icons of this area of the river.

You are crossing the Júcar river on a suspended wooden bridge. If you are afraid of heights close your eyes.

Alatoz is an important town on the Wool Route and is the headquarters of the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago de Albacete. This Jacobean route starts from Alicante and passes through Castilla La Mancha. In its urban area there are several establishments dedicated to providing services to pilgrims for centuries.

I do not recommend sleeping in the shelter. The roof is very broken and half fallen. I have slept in my tent and it was fine. If you are lucky there are figs on the trees. The village of Balsa de Ves is nearby and there is a bar for breakfast.

You are at the epicenter of the Hoz del Júcar. Here you can cross the river on the suspension bridge that tests your skills on the bike.

Update February 2023: the road has apparently been redeveloped. Now it is much more difficult to navigate as it is full of loose, coarse stones.

This is a good place to stop and refresh yourself with the cold water from the fountain. In addition, the views of the sickle from the top of the mountain are very beautiful.
