From the Lüderich hill, which rises to around 260 meters, the view stretches far across the Bergisches Land region. To the west, the landscape opens up towards the Cologne Lowland, where the hills gradually give way to flatter terrain. On clear days, you can even see the Cologne Cathedral. Traces of the mining that once took place around the Lüderich are still visible.

The Picture Book Museum, housed in the manor house of Wissem Castle, is unique in Europe. As a specialized museum for artistic picture book illustration, it boasts a top-class collection of illustrations. In addition, there are collections of historical children's books and artists' books. Exciting temporary exhibitions allow visitors to discover facets of contemporary picture book illustration. The grounds surrounding Wissem Castle have much to offer. The park features wildlife enclosures, a sensory trail, and a spacious playground.

Wissem Castle is the landmark of Troisdorf and dates back to the Merovingian period (500-700 AD). It was a moated castle and fortification, the ancestral seat of the Lords of Troisdorf. The first written record of it dates from 1474. The complex comprises elements from three different eras and is surrounded by a spacious castle park that merges into the Wahner Heide heathland. With its sensory experience area, the deer park's enclosures featuring red deer and sika deer, and other recreational activities, the castle park is a popular destination. Since the 1980s, the castle has housed the internationally renowned Picture Book Museum. The coach house (built around 1550) is the headquarters of the Heinz Müller Foundation. As part of the Regionale 2010, the former administration building at Burgallee 3 was converted and now houses the tourist information office, the Museum of Urban and Industrial History (MUSIT), the Wahner Heide Portal, the wedding room, the creative workshop and the restaurant “Quattro Passi”, creating a unique cultural center.
