The Cubillas Reservoir extends across the municipalities of Albolote and Atarfe. It was built in 1956 and is primarily used for water supply and agricultural irrigation. The reservoir has an area of 194 hectares and a maximum depth of approximately 20 meters. The reservoir's main tributary is the Cubillas River. The reservoir's surroundings are characterized by pine forests, oak trees, and Mediterranean vegetation, and the lake is an important habitat for many fish species. The Cubillas Reservoir also serves as a resting place for various bird species, including the Great Cormorant and the Dunnock. The reservoir offers numerous recreational opportunities, including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, jet skiing, and water skiing. There is a large picnic area on the shore and a restaurant overlooking the lake.

A beautiful town full of history, situated on an ancient pass between the provinces of Jaén and Granada. Nowadays, this pass is a few kilometres away from the city, but this town is worth a good walk through its streets.

Montejícar still has some old wash houses in good condition, used for washing clothes when there was no water supply to the neighbours' homes. This wash house is located next to the bridge, possibly of Roman origin, and at the northern entrance to the city.

An important construction dating from the 16th century, although it is located on a mosque like most Christian temples. It was rebuilt or remodeled in the 17th century and has a 35-meter-high bell tower built of stone. Inside there is a jasper baptismal font with two lion heads.

Right next to the name of the town we find a public fountain to fill water containers. It is located next to the road for both those who enter the town and those who are passing through.

As a welcome to visitors, Montejícar has a small symbol with the name of the town at the entrance, as is usual in most towns in Spain and Andalusia.
