The Pantano de Quéntar is a reservoir in Quéntar, Granada, built between 1971 and 1975 and officially inaugurated on 11 May 1976. It is located at the confluence of the Aguas Blancas and Padules rivers and has a capacity of 14 million cubic metres. The reservoir plays an important role in the water supply of the city of Granada and the irrigation of the surrounding agricultural lands.

Puerto de los Blancares, 1297m Puerto de los Blancares is a mountain pass in the Sierra Nevada, Granada, at an altitude of 1297 metres. It is on the GR-3201 route, which connects La Peza with Granada. The route is approximately 9.3 kilometres long and offers scenic scenery with an average gradient of 3.4%. It is a popular route for walkers and cyclists due to the beautiful scenery and the challenging, but advantageous, gradient. The route starts near the Pantano de Quéntar and passes through forests and open terrain.

The Acequia del Toril is a porous limestone aqueduct, more than 1.5 km long and more than 10 meters high at some points. Its natural construction over millennia has been used since prehistoric times to supply a settlement from one of the eight nearby hot springs. This meandering geological formation, with walls up to three meters thick, remains an impressive testament to natural engineering and human use of water.

Located near the Spanish town of Lopera, on the bed of the Fardes River, the reservoir is basically used for agricultural irrigation. Its construction meant a great change to the situation of uncertainty due to the dry seasons in the region occupied by the Vega de la Hoya de Guadix.

At the top, the water still flows abundantly through the source. The water is still clearly visible on the road side, as the surrounding ground is even higher.

Perfect bar-restaurant to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner, really good prices and huge portions of food. They have from fried fish, to meat and sandwiches. A nice place to start and end your ride at Guadix

This fountain is a delight. The water comes out fresh and the setting is beautiful. It is worth making a stop here, even if you still have water left, to cool off a bit before continuing pedaling.

Good access road to the Sierra Nevada mountains. The road quality is very mixed and there is not so little traffic. But the Spaniards drive very considerately (but not the tourists!).

I like the ascent further east better. You can also drive a circuit, but the "road" between the two road climbs is not paved.
