The beautiful white Moorish village of Mojácar is situated on a rock, 2 km from the sea, and from afar you have a beautiful view of the typical Andalusian village. The entrance and beautiful rock are just after the parking lot, if you walk towards the center you will pass it.

Delicious water from nature

A good place for a short break. At the entrance to the cave there is a small plaque commemorating Mariquita la Posá. A young woman who married the old hermit so that he could make a healing elixir against the plague that was spreading. But the old hermit broke his promise and did not distribute the potion to the villagers. He was afraid that Mariquita la Posá would turn away from him once everyone was healthy. So the young woman stole the bottle with the elixir while he was sleeping and distributed it around the village. Then she wanted to get rid of the old grump and gave him a nasty potion. But something went wrong and she got some of it herself. Neither of them has been seen since then. But all the villagers who are still alive have apparently recovered.

Cozy and worth it

The train passed along this mining path in Los Gallardos with the wagons that transported the workers and the material extracted from the mine.

Fortress built in the 16th century. It was built by the Marquis de los Vélez, Pedro Fajardo, as a symbol of his power and wealth in the area. The castle is a magnificent example of Spanish Renaissance architecture and is made up of two parts: the fortress and the palace. The fortress consists of two towers and a defensive wall, while the palace presents an impressive façade with decorative elements in the Gothic, Renaissance and Mudejar styles. The castle has been recently restored and currently houses a museum dedicated to the archeology and history of the area. You can also enjoy panoramic views from the top of the towers and explore the network of underground tunnels that connect different parts of the castle.
