Magnificent scenery with beautiful views of the sea. The combined cycle and pedestrian path is often very narrow. It's better to use the road, despite the car traffic.

From the Spanish side, the road is wide, the climb is even, and there are fewer cars, making it much more pleasant and safer to drive than from the French side.

It is interesting to leave IRUN via the new footbridge that connects Santiago and Plaiaundi. In fact, on one of my routes I leave the centre of IRUN and go to Plaiaundi  and take the new cycle path that takes me to Ficoba.  From there I continue to Behobia  I take a circular route along the Hendaya cycle path  returning to Ficoba.

impossible not to go up it, the morning is cool by Véra so better at the end of the morning in winter or in the afternoon for those who feel the cold, the road is in better condition on the French side but watch out for the many cars going up to the ventas
