La Calahorra Castle has been the setting for several filming projects. It has been open to the public for tours since September 2025.

The Puerto de la Ragua marks the border between the provinces of Granada and Almería. The Sierra Nevada stretches on both sides, with the 3000m peaks on the Granada side. The highest mountain in the province of Almería, El Chullo, is, however, easily accessible from the Puerto de la Ragua. The Puerto de la Ragua is just over 2000m.

At this altitude there are a few bays that invite you to take a break from the fast descent. The temperature is pleasant again and the view of the mountains and the valley is wonderful.

One of the few asphalt passes over 2,000m in the region. You just have to take it with you, even if it's not particularly "exciting" IMHO.

Visits only possible by appointment and only on Wednesdays. But the climb is worth it just because of the beautiful view.

Built on the only hill that at the foot of the Sierra Nevada dominates the extensive plain of the Marquesado del Zenete, the castle-palace of La Calahorra. The castle is very beautiful, but keep in mind that it will only be there on Wednesdays.

Located right at the highest point of the Raga pass (2000 meters), the Ragua refuge is a mountain refuge with a guard and capacity for 32 bunk beds. Currently (September 2023) it remains closed and waiting to carry out renovations in the facilities, which had been very deteriorated due to lack of maintenance.

As you stroll through the narrow streets of Jerez del Marquesado, you can see the traditional whitewashed houses adorned with vibrant flower pots, creating a charming atmosphere. One of the highlights of Jerez del Marquesado is its incredible location at the foot of the Sierra Nevada National Park. Explore the park's hiking trails, where you can immerse yourself in breathtaking landscapes, from rugged mountain peaks to waterfalls and serene meadows. Ornithology fans will also be delighted by the various species of birds that inhabit this region. The imposing Church of San Juan Bautista stands proud in the heart of Jerez del Marquesado, displaying a fusion of architectural styles from different eras.
