A wonderful breath of fresh air. You can also do this part barefoot.

I've been going there for many years. It's not really a beach, but a cove of fine pebbles, and swimming requires caution; there are a lot of rocks at the entrance. The surrounding area allows for several trails.

Very frequent crossings, basically non-stop during the day. There is a person selling tickets onboard so you don't need to buy one in advance through the machines that only take small coins. Was only 90c for me and my bike.

An absolute highlight is the transporter bridge from Areeta to Portugalete via the Ria de Bilbao. On the Portugalete site there is a small photo exhibition about transporter bridges. In Germany there is such a construction that crosses the Kiel Canal near Rendsburg.

Fantastic coastal landscape, flysch was always only known to me as a formation from the Alps, flysch-flowing, Switzerland. "Flysch, term for marine and brackish rocks that were created by rapid erosion during the uplift of orogenic sills in the adjacent subsidence zones and thus characterize mountain-building phases in regional geological history. Flysch represents rubble masses that, as rocks, have the character of sand, silt, Clay and marl stones and often contain exotic blocks." (Encyclopedia of Geography)
