Old sugar factory with a tall red brick chimney on the outskirts of Caldas de Ries. Today the building is used as a nursery, day center and exhibition hall.

View of the marina from the boardwalk. Good place to have a coffee or a drink after the bike ride. Curious fact: Petroglyphs from the second millennium before Christ, suggest that Vilagarcía was inhabited since prehistoric times; however, the current town has its origins in the fifteenth century

The sugar factory «Azucarera Gallega» was founded in 1899 and closed only after 4 years. The walls of the main building were restored as well as the 60m high chimney. A viewing platform was installed at the top of the chimney and can be reached by elevator or if you are up to the challenge, may be reached via a spiral staircase installed on the outside of the chimney. Definitely worth a visit!
