The Dúrcal River, in the heart of the Lecrín Valley (Granada), is a spectacular natural area, ideal for hiking, photography, and water sports. It rises in the western part of the Sierra Nevada mountains and flows into the Guadalfeo River, near the Rules Dam. It is a short river, but highly attractive due to its waterfalls, pools, and gorges. Typical riparian forest vegetation includes willows, ash trees, poplars, and aspens.

A lovely place to cool off and spend a wonderful day in the surroundings.

Start the route from the lower access that leads directly to the river and bring drinks and food 😉

This castle in ruins is located in front of Durcal, it is delimited by the Granada motorway. To get to it, you have to take from the exit of the town at the San Blas fountain towards the Urquizar baths, you have to be very careful once you cross the motorway bridge and we begin the descent quite descending because when we pass the last farmhouses on the right we are fixed to the right and we will find an indicative sign that will take us to the ruins of the castle of Durcal.

The hiking route begins at the very source of San Blas in the same town of Durcal, you have to follow an asphalt road towards the Durcal-baños de urquizar river, once you reach the height of the highway bridge, you must take it before starting to go down towards the river we will take a right and we will begin to climb towards a dolmen called the rock of the Moors

This area is on the Durcal River itself in the section that goes from the Durcal bridge to the Los Bolos waterfall.

This hiking route can be done from several points, but for me the best starting point is leaving the car on the iron bridge that is on the old road of Durcal n-323 Asu, passing by the source, from there we go down to the river just under the iron bridge be careful because the road is a bit slippery once in the same river if we take the right this path would take us to the same waterfall of the bolos we never have to leave the section of the river we will arrive at an area where we find a ditch that is fed by the same cascade of the bolos and the same Durcal river that is born in the lagoon of the horse.
