The Tower of Hercules, called the Brigantia Lighthouse until the 20th century (by the old name of La Coruña, Brigantium), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Although its origins are unknown, it is thought to have been rebuilt by the Romans in the 1st century. It is the only working Roman lighthouse in the world built as a navigation beacon to guide ships skirting the western edge of the Empire.
