Amieva is a traditional village, as old as any, dating back to around the 10th century. It is strategically located on the Arcediano Trail and the Arrieros' Path. While it has a long history of livestock farming, it was also a crossroads in the Middle Ages. Today, it is a prime starting point for exploring the Picos de Europa mountains on foot and enjoying adventure sports.

Puente Dobra was a key crossing point in the Middle Ages between the Castilian plateau and Asturias across the Cantabrian Mountains, via the Arcediano Trail. Today, it is a popular meeting place for bathers seeking to cool off in the turquoise waters of the Sella River during the summer.

The Angón pass is surrounded by impressive grey limestone massifs typical of the Picos de Europa. Here, the views alternate between the intense green of the forest, the blue of the sky, and the majesty of the surrounding peaks.

The outward journey is rather rough: many climbs and the last third of the path is sloping with only stones, which makes it a slippery section and not very interesting. It is better to go there by the path that runs along the river than by this circuit.

Beautiful walk to the Vegabaño Refuge, located in the Western Massif of the Picos de Europa, is nestled in a meadow at 1,432m. From here you can see and access the limestone peaks of Moledizos, Besmeja, Peña Santa de Castilla, Torco, Peña Beza, Cabronero… Surrounded by mostly beech and oak forests, the refuge is at the foot of the Roblón de Cuesta Fría, this ancient tree stands in the forest witness to an Eden declared a World Heritage Site.
