It is located in the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range, between the municipalities of Miraflores de la Sierra and Rascafría, in the Community of Madrid. From Miraflores de la Sierra (1200m), the route ascends approximately 600m over 10km (average gradient 4–6%), and after reaching the summit, it descends 13km to Rascafría (1150m) with a gradient of 4.5–7%.

The Hermitage of San Blas, more than a hermitage, could be said to be a humiliation, a holy place in the cattle pastures at the foot of the Najarra in Miraflores de la Sierra, composed of a small stone wall supported by a porch that houses the image of Saint Blaise, a saint known for his miraculous healings. The hermitage is located on a promontory surrounded by the granite bowls so characteristic of this part of the Sierra de Guadarrama, from its position there is a viewpoint with beautiful views of such characteristic places as La Pedriza, Cabezas de Hierro, the Santillana reservoir and in the distance the Madrid skyline with the 4 towers. A perfect place to stop and contemplate the immensity of that land and the tranquility that can be breathed from there, observing the silhouette of the great city in the distance.

A beautiful monastery is worth the visit. Better to book in advance online, to enjoy the guided tour. The visit consists of two parts. The first is free with information panels on the history of the Monastery. The second is accompanied by a Benedictine Friar who explains and shows you the place.

The pass is at an altitude of 1,796 m and is especially known as a classic for road cycling in the Sierra de Guadarrama and the Vuelta a España.
