The Church of San Isidoro el Real, located in the picturesque Plaza de la Constitución, is a true treasure trove of the past. Built on a previous Romanesque church, of which an arch remains in the Parque de San Francisco, this church was first mentioned in the document of 1217. Its history is closely linked to influential figures such as Martín Carrillo Alderete, whose role was decisive in its foundation in the 17th century. The interiors and the façade are decorated by Baroque masters such as Francisco Menéndez Camina, making it an outstanding example of religious architecture. Not only is it a historical-artistic monument, but it is also a place where you can admire works and architectural details that tell stories of faith, art and culture. If you are in Oviedo, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Most pilgrims go to the Cathedral of San Salvador and very few go up to the 35-meter-high sculpture of Jesus. There is a beautiful path from here to Ules, from where you can return to the Camino Primitivo. The view over Oviedo from up here is definitely worth it.
