Las Ventas con Peña Aguilera is a charming village in the Montes de Toledo mountains, ideal for rural getaways, hiking, and cultural tourism. Furthermore, its proximity to Cabañeros National Park makes it a strategic location for enjoying both nature and tradition.

Polán Castle is a medieval fortification located in the municipality of Polán, about 15 km southwest of Toledo, in the Montes de Toledo region. It is situated within the town itself, nestled among houses and courtyards, giving it a unique character. Built between the 11th and 12th centuries, it was likely used as a defensive tower after the Reconquista of Toledo (1085).

Excellent viewpoint from where you can see a wide panoramic view of the municipality of “Las Ventas con Peña Aguilera”, located in the southern center of the Montes de Toledo region. The climb runs along a type of Roman road and at the top we find an impressive windmill and a Hermitage, the Ermita Nuestra Señora del Águila, a 15th - 16th century building with a rectangular nave and main chapel with simple wooden coffered ceiling. It houses the Patroness Our Lady of the Eagle, a 7 cm polychrome wood carving that has the characteristic of being the second smallest in Spain.

Very nice and quiet road

It is not just this road but the entire area between the Montes de Toledo and the city itself, we find this plain area between these small towns.

A walk through the streets of this town will allow you to enjoy its interesting civil architecture represented in its Town Hall, from the 17th century, its scroll of justice, from the 16th century or its Ethnographic Museum.

Its history is a mystery, but news arrives from the year 1116, during a battle between the Christians of Toledo and the Muslims of Oreja. Warden Farax Abdalí was defeated near the Christian castle of Polán, which was perhaps under construction at the time.

The top of the Riscos del Amor with its 1344 m, is the highest peak in Ciudad Real.
