The old brick factory and chimney of Murueta are a vestige of the industrial tradition linked to the Urdaibai marshes, a reminder of the recent past that today blends into the natural landscape of the reserve.

Fruiz (or Frúniz in Spanish) is a small town in Vizcaya with a rather curious name. There are many Basque towns that end in -iz. It is believed to be a construction formed by a proper name attached to the Latin suffix -icus declined. That proper name would be that of the person to whom the municipality belonged in ancient times.

Sollube from Bermeo is a climb in the Basque Country region. It has a length of 8.2 kilometers and an ascent of 651 vertical meters with a slope of 7.9% on average. The top of the ascent is located at 658 meters above sea level.

The town of Rigoitia dominates the Urdaibai basin from its height. From Gernika-Lumo the ascent is 6 kilometers with +269 meters of positive difference in altitude. On its other side, the climb is 7 kilometers with 290 meters of ascent.
