Spectacular chained route. With a bit of luck you will be able to climb alongside horses, cows and even some World Tour cyclists.

As always: with filled water bottles you can enjoy the climbs with peace of mind

We've had a lot of respect choosing this route to enter Andorra due to the bad comments here. In the end we were surprised how good the gravel road looked like. We managed to ride everything with heavily loaded gravel bikes (luggage in the front and back). Just had to take some breaks in the shade due to the heat and the constantly steep gradients. The first 500 m, directly after the village "Tor" are the most difficult part, afterwards the slope gets less steep and the gravel road slightly better. My recommendation: plan a bit more time for some breaks (or bring the right gears or good legs). But don't be afraid of taking this route, it's totally worth the effort and it is mostly rideable without problems.

It's really not that bad, with a loaded gravel and dry weather, 40mm+ tyres, very doable and rewarding climb! Exceptionnal view

Make sure you fill your water bottles at the base, be it in Massat/Le Port, or Aulus-les-Bains, or Vicdessos because there are no water points on the climb unless the café is open at l’Etang de Lers.

Leaving the tunnel and seeing those curves is a symbol of a secured balloon. it is worth pedaling in those curves, the views are impressive and a great reward to reach the station.
