The Roman Site of Miaccum in Collado Mediano is an archaeological site that connects us with the Roman past of the region. The site is located in Collado Mediano, a municipality in the Guadarrama mountain range, near Madrid.

The royal house of Monesterio is a former royal residence from the 16th-17th centuries, currently in ruins and part of the Royal Site of San Lorenzo El Escorial delimited by the fence of Felipe II.

Located in the old Royal Forest of El Escorial and now located in private pastures after the Confiscation of Madoz, it was built by order of Philip III at the beginning of the 20th century. XVII. Today abandoned, it presents us with the persistence of its walls and its granite chimneys, today occupied by stork nests that rest, as the members of the Court did four centuries ago, towards the Royal Site of El Escorial or the Granja de San Ildefonso.

Going along the path that connects Campillo with Monesterio, in order to cross the Guadarrama River, we will do so over this beautiful stone bridge.

This Herrerian-style building was the old trade house of Monesterio del Campillo. Today only its ruins remain, highlighting among them its small cylindrical towers that crown the storks with their nests.

This is one of the many fountains and springs that supplied the surrounding towns. You will see that it is not the only one and that if you continue walking through the network of trails on this mountain, sooner or later you will surely come across another one. In this case, it is a stone-lined cement trough with several large stones in front.
