Neoclassical square in the heart of Bilbao's Old Town (Casco Viejo). • The square was laid out in 1821 and completed in 1851. • It is surrounded by arcades and columns, beneath which are numerous pintxos bars and restaurants. • Plaza Nueva is a popular meeting place and considered the heart of the old town. • A flea market takes place in the square on Sundays.

The summit is 250 meters high and can be reached via a singletrack trail from the forest road. It's best to climb from the Bilbao side and then descend the singletrack towards Basauri. Coming from Basauri, it's not really rideable; pushing would be necessary.

A roundabout to relax and all around is car traffic.

Nice place to linger for a while

To the right of the bridge leading to the new city of Bilbao, you will find the church of San Nicolas. In the 14th century, there was already a church on this site, but in 1756 it had to be completely rebuilt. The baroque church was designed by architect Ignacio de Ibero and was dedicated to Saint Nicholas, patron saint of sailors. The showpiece of the octagonal interior is the beautifully carved altar.

Like all the bridges over the Bilbao estuary, the current Arenal Bridge dates from after the Spanish Civil War. During the conflict, they were all destroyed in defense of the city. However, the current design is a reflection and copy of the previous design and together they encompass more than 175 years of history of the city of Bilbao. It is also one of the best known, most beloved and most used routes by the people of Bilbao on a daily basis.

Beautiful park with fountains, playground and a kiosk with many benches that are also used a lot.

Telecommunications antennas next to the mailbox. This peak is included in the catalogue of Centenary Peaks of Euskal Herria. However, its fame goes to its neighbour Pagasarri.
