Since the temple was completed in the 15th century, it has elements from the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

This church is located next to the city walls and, together with the church of San Juan Bautista, formed the fortified area that protected the medieval town.

A special mention should be made of the bell tower, which stands free-standing at the foot of the temple, and at the foot of the tower there is a rainwater cistern, which is intended to supply the inhabitants of the town with the precious water.

The lagoon is completely dried out and overgrown, and seems to have been that way for some time.

This ecclesiastical fortress was built in the opposite part of the city in relation to the Basilica of Santa María de los Reyes, attached to the wall and completing the southeastern end of the fortified area of Laguardia.
