Each of these crosses, which the traveler often encounters in the fields or, as here, on the mountaintops—in this case combined with a beautiful view of the lake and the opposite shore—is a sign commemorating the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. “Here on earth, His memory exists, but in the Kingdom of Heaven is His presence: this presence is the joy of those who have already attained salvation. We were there at the end of September 2024, and there was already a lot of snow. Be sure to check the weather conditions beforehand. The snow made the hike significantly more challenging. Many people weren't well prepared.

It's a must-see in the Annecy basin! Mont Baron peaks at 1,299 meters above sea level, just a little higher than its neighbor Mont Veyrier. From there, you have a superb view of the lake, Annecy, the Semnoz, and the Entrevernes mountain in particular.

Please note that since 2024, a decree prohibits access to the parking lot and prevents parking along the road. They pass by and issue fines otherwise.

You can take a beautiful circular hike either from La Clusac or from Jean. A beautiful view rewards the effort of the climb.

By respecting the signs regarding bicycles, the dangers of cows, the pedestrian routes, the mountain will be for everyone. A panoramic view of the area offers 360 degrees of beauty via a hike. Numerous on-site parking. Trail running here is great with multiple down and up hills through the forest. 👌
