In Cercy la Tour the oldest traces of civilizations date back to the Paleolithic era. You will notice that most castles are located in strategic defensive positions, which is not the case with this castle. The church square is the central point of the charming village of Larochemillay. It is from this place that we access the castle perched on its rock. The buildings which line the square are very beautiful, as well as the view of the surrounding mountains which is offered from the gîte located there.

The stronghold of Alligny was built in the 12th century and renovated several times. It is also called "castle of Mothe d'Alligny" or "castle of Puy". The castle is surrounded by ditches supplied with water by a stream which empties into the pond right next to it.
