very beautiful church

A long, steady climb. Almost no cars, wide roads and beautiful surroundings! Hard to find a coffee or lunch place though.

The Saint-Etienne Church shines entirely in golden yellow and pink stones. It is the oldest parish in Roanne. The church was built around 1343 and destroyed several times throughout history. The building visible today dates back to the late 19th century. However, remnants of various constructions remain, and the primitive architecture blends harmoniously with the new neo-Gothic elements. Don't miss the church's organ, which was once installed in the choir of Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral.

Very friendly and accessible to all

The Glassworks Plateau is located at an altitude of 1,015 meters. It is a large open plateau in the Magdalen Mountains. The landscape is wild and relatively unspoiled.

The church of Saint-Maurice, whose origins date back to the 18th century, was the chapel of the castle, hence the name of the castle chapel. Inside the church, on the right-hand side, in a bay window, there is a wall fresco of Saint James with pilgrim's cloak and staff, which was discovered during restoration work in 1999.
