Here is the route for the ascent of the Col de la Machine starting from Saint-Jean-en-Royans, which passes through the incredible Combe Laval!

A fairly demanding pass at first, but it eventually eases off as the scenery becomes incredible! 6 km at 8%, then 6%, 4%, 5% (not sure, I was just looking at the scenery) and the last two km at 4%.

Nice church in the village, in front of it a fountain and some bars and shops.

Nice square in the town with town hall, statue and restaurants.

A beautiful place that is definitely worth visiting. It was pouring with rain when we were there, but it was still great - the rain always passes quickly

This village is located in the heart of Royans Drôme. The course of the Lyonne, which crosses it, played a key role in its evolution. The textile, turning and wood industries developed on its banks. Saint-Jean-en-Royans is surrounded by proud and wild nature which has many exceptional sites such as the Combe de Laval.

The name Bourg-de-Péage comes from the duties that were levied on goods at the southern entrance to the bridge. At the Pogne Pascalis museum, a famous brioche dating from the Middle Ages, it is possible to visit the workshops where Pognes and St-Genix are made and taste them. Also worth seeing is Maison Favor, dating from 1830.

Beautiful walk! We did a shortened version (not started in the village itself) and walked the route in the opposite direction. Which considering the person's reaction to this. Walking uphill will then become easier. Cool off in the fresh river on your return.
