The Basilique Notre-Dame du Saint-Cordon is a magnificent neo-Gothic cathedral in Valenciennes, located on the Place Abbé Thellier Poncheville. Construction of the basilica began in 1852 and was completed in 1864 under the direction of the architect Alexandre Grigny. It is an important religious and cultural monument and has been a minor basilica since 1922. The basilica is dedicated to Our Lady of the Sacred Band, traditionally considered the patron saint of Valenciennes. The building is an excellent example of neo-Gothic architecture and houses an impressive organ built in 1891 by Joseph Merklin.

The artwork HV11 is an abstract sculpture by the French artist Nicolas Sanhes. It was installed in 2012 on the roundabout of the Place Cardon in Valenciennes. The title "HV11" stands for "Hea l'acier utilisé" (All the used steel), "V" for Valenciennes and "11" for the year of installation. It is an impressive work consisting of three points of support and a complex shape that approaches the space in a unique way.
