Deserves to be ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. (in our opinion)

Between Chimay and Thuin, the RAVeL L109 runs along a superb cycle path along a former railway line. The route is bordered by forests and meadows. You'll cycle far from cars, through the Hainaut countryside.

IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND AN OPEN BISTRO...THIS ONE IS NEAR THE GREENWAY

As of April 25: There's a restroom but no seating. No fireplace or firewood. Fires are prohibited. Given the lack of seating, I don't think the village youth meet here at the moment. Overall, a very quiet overnight spot.

Don't hesitate to take advantage of the surrounding forests

A short tour in the Avesnes countryside offering beautiful views of Solre-le-Château and its leaning bell tower. Route mainly on asphalt paths with however a grassy path over 600m. Possibility of walking from Lez-Fontaine to the hamlet of l'Epine via the greenway. Ideal departure: the square of Solre-le-Château where parking is easy and where it is possible to eat or refuel.

The Auberge de Poteaupré, brasserie-restaurant-hotel at Espace Chimay, is the ideal place to taste the products of Scourmont Abbey and the Chimay region. Located near the Notre-Dame de Scourmont abbey, it has welcomed its guests in a warm and rural atmosphere for more than 100 years. The dishes are a mix of tradition and gastronomy, and the lively atmosphere is reminiscent of an English pub where beer and Chimay cheese are served.

Lots of space and very well appointed. Toilets, bench and firewood. Unfortunately very close to the Ravel and therefore local young people arrive around 10 p.m. to make a fire and have fun. So avoid going there during school periods or on weekends. Be careful the area is infected with ticks!!! My repellent saved me but not my compatriot. it nevertheless remains one of the most beautiful bivouacs that I have been able to test in Belgium.
