The Canal de Neuf-Brisach, which is mistakenly shown here on the map as the Canal de Colmar (as of October 2025), was previously called the Canal de Rouffach or the Canal de Vauban. It was built by the engineer Vauban and completed in 1699. It served as a transport route for building materials from the Vosges Mountains for the construction of the fortified town of Neuf-Brisach.
