Message to hikers: Please do not cross private property because the owners are fed up with the constant traffic in their gardens!! The signs and gates are not decorations but to signal a ban on passage. Thank you for your civic-mindedness.

Pic Elio (359 m) is a summit a little less known than Garlaban.

Narrow and steep path.

A limestone massif dating from the end of the Mesozoic, it overlooks the town of Aubagne. Its formation is attributed to folds of land dating back to the Upper Cretaceous. Dominated by limestone, which was used for the production of lime, the massif contains mineral resources long exploited by humans. A land of clay: the work of this material is inseparable from the history of the country of Aubagne and l’Étoile. Garlaban peaks at 714 meters above sea level.

Overlooking Marseille and within sight of the Saint-Victoire mountain, the Garlaban culminates at 714 meters and is visible from most of the southern region of the Bouches-du-Rhône department. So much so that in the past, sailors used it as a navigational aid when they arrived in port.
