Beautiful greenway on the old railway line in the heart of the natural environment of Haut-Doubs. The views overlooking the Doubs valley are magnificent.

Section of road passing through a gorge with the Château de Joux on the heights on one side and the ruins of the lower Fort du Larmont, or Fort Mahler, on the other. This second, built in the 19th century, had the mission of protecting the Château de Joux.

At 1,176 meters above sea level, the Sarrazine Rock belvedere offers a wide panorama of the Arlier plateau, the Château de Joux, Larmont, the Grand Taureau and Fort Malher. On site, an orientation table allows you to read the landscape. A picnic area with a shelter has been set up there.

Built between 1845 and 1851, the fort underwent a second construction when 3 tons of explosives were detonated, completely destroying the buildings of the original fort.

The Château de Joux (or Fort de Joux) is a fortified castle near Pontarlier, in Franche-Comté, in the French Jura. The castle is located at a strategically important location above the small town of La Cluse-et-Mijoux. The Dijon-Lausanne trade route crossed the Jura mountains here. The road crosses a rocky cliff and could therefore be easily controlled from the castle.
