Built on the remains of the Gallo-Roman city of Caesarodunum, Saint-Gatien Cathedral stands in the heart of the city. This city was once one of the most famous places of pilgrimage in the West and is still one of the capitals of the Pays de Loire. Opening hours: Saint-Gatien Cathedral is open every day of the week from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm. From Easter to 11 November, you can meet the volunteers of the Présence Cathédrale association in the cathedral. You can recognise them by their badges. They can help you with your visit and answer your questions. For guided tours and group visits, which can take place all year round by reservation, please contact 07 66 39 84 11. For more information, visit their website: https://visite-cathedrale-tours.fr/ You can also visit the cloister of La Psalette, which is accessible via the cathedral.

This preserved space is a paradise for ornithologists. Far from the traffic, the calm is distracted only by the solemn flow of the Loire and the beating of the wings of the herons surprised by your fortuitous appearance.

The Luynes aqueduct is an ancient Gallo-Roman aqueduct bridge. With an initial length of 500 meters, today only around 270 remain. According to estimates, the aqueduct carried water from a source located on one of the sides of the valley where it was built. The aqueduct would thus have made it possible to supply Malliacum (Roman name given to the town of Luynes) with running water.

In Tours, Lake Bergeonnerie is the meeting place for athletes. Throughout a route where you can come across jogging and street workout enthusiasts, find a bench or a patch of grass to observe the sailing school practicing on the placid waters of the lake.

In the heart of the medieval district of the city of Tours, Place Plumereau (“Plum’” for the Tourangeaux) is an entirely pedestrianized place. Many food shops mingle there in a particularly picturesque setting. Very popular with locals and tourists at the dawn of sunny days, it has been classified by Lonely Planet as “the most beautiful place in France to have an aperitif”. From the square, a maze of winding streets winds through old Tours. After a break on the terrace, set out to explore the numerous half-timbered houses, some dating from the 15th century. These constructions give an inexorable charm to the city.
