I became aware of this gorge through the tips here. We first walked along the mountain from the bridge and then got in at the back parking lot, so to speak, downstream. The river hike experience is a glorious one. It took us a good 2 hours to get back to the bridge...a special kind of pub tour 😆. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the start of a river hike, which varies in difficulty depending on the direction - upriver or downriver. We choose the easy direction, upstream. The hike is truly an adventure. Often the water is shallow and you can make good progress, but sometimes you have to wade through deeper areas. Smaller climbing sections are also included when the river can no longer be waded through and you have to continue scrambling over boulders or up the incline of the water. It is advisable to wear water shoes or sturdy trekking sandals, simply walking barefoot through the river can be quite painful for delicate feet. On less delicate ones too, the rock in the riverbed is jagged and pointed. But then you are already in the middle of the tour and no longer at the start, which is actually what this is supposed to be about... Nevertheless, absolutely recommendable, it is incredibly fun! But beware: you should not do the hike after heavy rain or in unsettled weather, the danger of the rapidly rising water is great. Warning signs provide information about this. So always keep an eye on the weather forecast. (We were on the road in September, there were quite heavy thunderstorms with decent rainfall.)

Starting from Buis, head towards the Col de Fontaube. The road climbs gently before straightening in the last km. Nice view of the Ventoux around a bend. At the pass, we take the time for the photo on the Giant of Provence .....
