Great Climb with new tarmac. Although steep and not easy it's still very enjoyable.

Something like this probably only exists in France. A perfectly paved bike path to the top of a mountain pass. The climb here is closed to motorized traffic, but it's quite challenging. For long stretches, the gradients are between 13 and 15%. In places, even up to 17 and 18%. The upper part of the route is entirely through forest, so there are no views. But that doesn't matter; you're busy with yourself anyway.

This is undoubtedly the best way to climb the Grand Ballon. It's the only hors catégorie climb in Alsace, with a 12.8-kilometer (8.0 miles) average gradient of 7.5% and a superb cycle path paved in 2023 between Geishouse and the Haag Pass.

From Soultz: Very nice climb. The road surface is great, runs smoothly and you mainly drive through a shady forest with the occasional glimpse through the trees. Few cars encountered, at the end a beautiful meadow and then at the top you can continue to the Grand Ballon.

Four streets come together here.

On this beautiful, small road to Col Amic you are almost alone. The beautiful view but comes later on the way to the summit!
