It's always a real pleasure to stop by the Leuebärgli. The selection of drinks and food is very generous for a "Besenbeiz" (a traditional Austrian tavern). And when the weather is nice, it's lovely to sit outside in the sun.

The village center of Oltingen is worth seeing. If we were abroad, we would travel from far and wide to see Oltingen. The farming village has remained very authentic and much as it was. There's no kiosk selling souvenirs. But the village of Oltingen offers everything the eye can see. A must-visit.

The Scheidegg castle ruins are located near Tecknau. Many interesting remains of the walls and components of the former castle remain. The Scheidegg was built in 1220 by the Lords of Gelterkinden as a residential tower. It soon fell into decline. In 1270 the castle fell victim to a fire. The use of the residential tower was then reduced. The castle was abandoned around 1320 after another severe fire and was unsuccessfully searched for by treasure hunters. The Scheidegg ruins are located 400 meters southwest of Tecknau and north of the village of Rünenberg. Nice excursion destination with barbecue areas/benches. We came from Tecknau. Nice hiking trail. Extraordinary finds were made at the castle ruins during archaeological excavations, which you can see in the following film: https://youtu.be/kFGFaAqXVIQ

The Leuenberger family's lovingly designed pub. Beautiful interior, terrace and outdoor area. Donkeys, farm dog (very sweet) and cattle. Wide range of drinks and snacks as well as homemade sausages and cheese. Beautiful view of the valley. A must if you are in the area

Since the Wiesenberg is in the forest, this observation tower makes sense. It takes hikers above the treetops and allows a 360-degree panorama. There are panorama boards. The climb is worth it.
