Breathtaking 360-degree view

This rock shelter linked to a fort is that of the commander of the cartographic section. Inside there is a table, a stove, a bed, a telephone and electricity. This is where all the information obtained by the observers on the massif arrives.

The Juliusturm was built by the Vosges Club and you have a beautiful view over the Vosges.

Great views of the Ballons and Le Climont to the north.

Very deforested summit which offers a magnificent view of the surrounding Vosges, in particular the Grand Ballon, the Hohneck and even, on a clear day, the Alps! The climb is easier from the Brézouard refuge, a little drier on the other side.

Former pasture of the commune of Fréland, today reforested in spruce. There are traces of the agro-pastoral and forestry activity of the region, the life of the herds and the stubble, such as the extraction of wood for coal and mines. Today perhaps a little neglected because of the route of the GR5 just below, this small summit nevertheless offers a very calm area, a beautiful view and a forest path on the ridge between the hut of the Pierre des Trois Bans de and the village of Aubure.
