Very popular with tourists and wine lovers, it is crowded in summer and I recommend that you come and discover it out of season. Mixed opinion because of course we go around the castles and their vineyards, that's why we go to St Emilion. On the other hand, the 2nd part of the tour is done on the very busy road. It was not the high season suddenly, it was fine but not to do during the summer under penalty of being with the cars for at least 4 kms. Either you really want to see the castles that line the road, or you prefer the ballad mode and I advise you to take an alternative route for the return.
