The abbey of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval is a daughter abbey of Abondance, built in the 12th century, around 1144. Over time, the abbey of Sixt emancipated itself from that of Abondance and gradually extended its spiritual influence on the surrounding villages and more broadly in the Giffre valley. Various abbey buildings, altered during the existence of the monastery, remain: the church, the dwelling, the guest house and an attic.
