This is one of the best viewpoints to watch the sunset and see Mont Blanc in alpenglow. There are several easy hiking trails that lead from the car park (Col de Joux Plane) to this viewpoint. Definitely worth it!

From here, you can go back down the other side or continue up to the top of the lake. Be careful, the path back is very dangerous if you're afraid of heights and don't wear proper footwear. It's a very steep descent; there are wire ropes on the rock faces, but not everywhere. And you'll be walking over rocks where you can't immediately see where the trail leads.
