In high season, the refuge can accommodate up to 70 people. It also offers a catering service, and hikers passing through can stop simply for a drink. You will also find a drinking water point, toilets and PRM access.

Much sought-after peak of the Stretta valley, you pass by the 3° Alpini refuge, go through hairpin bends in the woods, pass Lake Thures and then start climbing towards the summit cross

The first part of the route, up to Lake Thures, is very simple. The path starts steeply next to Refuge III Alpini, after crossing the stream it softens, for the most part it is in the woods then it comes out in the valley at the top of which is the small lake, in these days a pool of stagnant water. Immediately above the lake there is a small wooden scaffolding, the path to the Spire starts from there, we didn't notice it and we continued straight on towards Névache until, at the point where the GPS indicated a non-existent path, we cut into the meadow to the left and reached the path, at that point clearly visible under the spire. From there it becomes steeper, crosses the scree until you reach a small hill from which the last section starts, a bit exposed, on which you need to have surefootedness. I wasn't in good shape and it took us three hours, but I think that with a normally trained pace you can get there in 2/2.30 hours. I wouldn't take children beyond the lake, in fact there weren't any.

At the Col de la Masse, the ascent to the Rateau d'Aussois branches off. However, the path tracks quickly get lost in the rocky terrain and the countless cairns that are spread over the mountain flank are no help either.

Mont Thabor is a mountain in Savoy and Hautes-Alpes, France. It is located in the Massif des Cerces mountain range. It has an elevation of 3,178 meters above sea level, it is located near another summit, the Pic du Thabor, which culminates at 3,207 meters above sea level. This summit has long marked the border between France and Italy. Near the top you will find a nice little stone chapel.
