The Saint-Blaise Bridge is a magnificent medieval sandstone structure dating back to the 13th century. It played a major role for merchants and pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela, allowing them to cross the Aveyron all year round.

Najac is a 13th-century fortified town perched on a rocky ridge. Listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in France, the town is characterized by its many ancient buildings and the fortified castle overlooking the village.

Najac is elongated and you can compare it a bit with the ribbon villages in North Holland, with the difference that it is located on a ridge of a mountain. Most of the houses date from the thirteenth to the sixteenth century. The fortress is a beautiful example of military architecture from the thirteenth century when Najac had more than two thousand inhabitants, more than twice as many as today.
