The Benedictine abbey is a stop on the Way of St. James. A pilgrim's stamp is located in the church. The side door was open.

The lantern states that it’s by the cemetery but either it moved or it’s been wrong all along. The cemetery is across the village, heading toward Le Fieu.

Dated from the 13th century, the lantern of the dead of Saint-Goussaud was moved at the beginning of the 19th century from the cemetery where it was initially located. Thanks to a pulley system, a light was hoisted there to guide the deceased.

Another mighty Romanesque basilica with a long history and tradition and wonderful acoustics. Unfortunately, you can tell that in France there is often a lack of money to keep these beautiful monuments in good condition. Also, we have not found any information for pilgrims of St. James, whether this is an important place on the pilgrimage route.

This small town of character is rich in history: abbey, castle, landscaped park and even a giant game of goose! Don't miss the Scénovision, which tells the story of local personalities who have left their mark on history.

On a Monday the place seems deserted. Even the Office de Tourism is closed on Monday in July! A bar “saves” us with a café au lait WITHOUT a croissant. The Romanesque basilica reflects the entire architecture of the golden section, with wonderful acoustics! Unfortunately, it looks dusty and unkempt.
